To find the best route between any 2 points there, I recommend using Googlemaps. It normally gives you a couple of alternatives, with estimated times, and will also show you traffic hold-ups. By using Streetview you can 'drive' the route, look at junctions and the signs, so you know what to expect.
There are 2 ways out of MCO: north which goes to the 528, and south which goes to the 417, both are toll roads. Personally, I would go south as there is usually much less traffic on the 417 (so less stressful), and you avoid going on the I-4 where the traffic is always heavy. WDW is well-signposted. The tolls are only $1 or $1.50. There are 2 or 3 (can't quite remember). They will give change (e.g. from a $20 note). |

Ian has given good advice above and the 417 is probably your best bet.
Personally I always use the Beachline, there is 1 toll being $2.25 and up to the I4. If it's when the I4 is likely to be busy I would do a very convoluted but quick way to the Contemporary which is:- Beachline. Off onto I Drive. Up to Palm Parkway Carry straight over into Winter Garden Vineland Rd Hang a left into Vista Blvd and go past Golden Oaks & Fort Wilderness Bear right into World Dr straight to the Contemporary. However we know the area well so maybe a bit complicated.
