Has anyone been to a Six Flags?

Just that really - we're visiting Texas and thinking of taking the kids to either Dallas or San Antonio (or both!). I've had a quick google and prices are very favourable when compared with Florida parks, but I'm struggling to find many details of what the parks are actually like, if that makes sense. Has anyone been to any of them, not just the Texan ones? Would you recommend them?

We went to Six Flags Magic Mountain in California in 2014. We enjoyed it, it didn't have the themeing that the Florida parks have, but they had some good coasters.

Where I grew up has a Six Flags. They are amusement parks and not theme parks. The focus is rides, particularly coasters, not themes like Disney. If your kids like rides, they'll love Six Flags. They are a lot smaller than Disney so can be done in a day. Hope this helps!

We have been to the one in baltimore, six flags America as it's not far from family we have living over there. It's a great park if you love coasters. Last time we went our son was only little and there wasn't as much for him but he would love it now he is a teenager!

as others have said , there are a lot of thrill rides but my lot enjoyed it. We went to the one near Chicago and it had a water park attached so we spent the most of the day whilst it rained on the rides and then finished off in the water park when the sun came out. Worth a day out I think.

Hiya We went to the San Antonio one last year and loved it! Lots of big coasters which the rest of my family loved and some good theming. I remember it being very clean too! We had a full day there and everyone really enjoyed it. Hope you have a fab time in Texas

Six Flags Magic Mountain is superb if you like roller coasters, agreed you won't get themeing in the queues etc. Personally I don't care about that and would prefer they spend money on better rides, which they have

We have done American Adventures (michigan), Cedar Point (Ohio), and Canada's Wonderland (Canada), Kings Island (Ohio). They are all part of the six flags group. Had a good time at them all. Agree most are not as themed as Disney but the rides keep you more than entertained.

If you like the big rides there are many at the above parks, and a selection of smaller or kiddie rides.

.
The above are not Six Flags they are Cedar Fair. Six flags has some great rides but as others have said are not in the same league as Disney for themeing. Our personal preference is the Cedar Fair parks over Six Flags but have only done the Six Flags near Washington and Atlanta, but if you like coasters you will find some fun.
