VEGAS - How much cash?
We are going to Vegas for a week, just 2 of us and trying to work out how much cash to take with us? We will have a clarity card so happy to pay for meals when possible and shopping on this so just need an idea of how much for non-card things if that makes sense!
We thinking approx $100 per day for gambling a few taxis including to and from airport.. What else could we need cash for where card isn't possible or advised? Thanks |

Didn't think about that.. guess we would pay cash for drinks as smaller amounts and you wouldn't have a tab as with a meal. Thank you!

Lots of singles for tipping the waitresses who bring your free drinks whilst you are gambling. Don't tip and they won't be back for your second order. When you see the bar prices you'll see why a $20 in a slot played at a moderate pace and a few dollars tip is better value than sitting at the hotel bar
How will you be getting around onthe Strip? For a cash free option both Uber and Lyft are in Vegas (and if you've not used them before both have first journey codes to get you a couple of free trips each so don't just download the apps without a link with a code). Just charges onto your card but unlike taxis you'll know how much it will be before you get in. Edited at 11:09 AM. |

We took £1000.00 for our trip back in 2012 (obviously has a better exchange rate then). we did also only gamble about $15 a day too so you may well need nearer £2000.00.

Is uber same as here? Do you need to tip uber drivers or is it all on your card?

We go next Monday - can't wait! We are taking $1000 cash and putting the rest on post office credit card. Luckily the dollars were left over from jamaica last year at a rate of $1.40. Don't think we will be doing so much shopping this time. Downloaded a travelzoo voucher last night for Hash Hash restaurant and might look for a few more this week.

I really love myVEGAS. You can't beat free.
Last time we got a massive tented day bed for four at Red Rock's gorgeous pool and had brunch on another voucher. We also had a free (Friday) night at the Luxor and breakfast at MGM for two. Nine Fine Irishmen gets good reviews if you are thinking of dinner using your points. |
