Hi does anyone know if you could get into Kennedy Space Centre if this launch takes place. We plan to go to Ksc but won't be able to fit in 2 trips there so combining the 2 would be great !

So cool! I saw a launch on my first visit to Florida in September 2000. We drove down to a nearby beach (can't remember the name, but there was a Ron Jon's Surf Shop if that narrows it down!) to view it, but it was delayed due to bad weather
We did still see it a few days later, just not from such a great viewing spot! I'd love to see another one and the kids would LOVE it! Edit: en.wikipedia/wiki/STS-106 It would seem it was this one! |

If the launch is to take place during normal visitor center operating hours then yes.
We have been out here when a rocket went up outside normal visitor center hours and they did not extend or open up for the launch. Rocket launches are not as popular as shuttle launches were!

I think this thread requires updating with information from NASA as it looks like the KSC website is out of date. So here you go, the latest schedule for NASA: -
nasa.gov/missions/highlights/schedule.html No launches scheduled for June, July, August, September or October from Kennedy. November is looking good so far, but one of the scheduled launches has been shifted from August/September. Hope this helps Tony. Dave & Maxine

I have thought that in the past, but non-NASA related launches are not listed in the official NASA launch schedule...
... details for the launch on 28/8/13 Rocket Launch: August: 8/28 Falcon 9 | Thaicom 6 August 28 A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket will launch the Thaicom 6 communications satellite. Thaicom 6 will provide C-band and Ku-band communications services across Southeast Asia and Africa. The rocket will fly in the Falcon 9 v1.1 configuration with upgraded Merlin 1D engines, stretched fuel tanks, and a payload fairing.

So do these events require special tickets like the space shuttle launch? I had to buy one for the STS121 launch a few years ago.
Reason I ask is because there is a scheduled launch in November when I am in orlando. Would like to get as close as possible, so where would be the best place to go and see it? |

Watched a midnight launch of Atlantis a few years back from Titusville. Great view and I understand about as close as you can get without being on KSC property?
