Alternative activities close to KSC

We're planning a visit to KSC but not all the group are interested. Can anyone recommend any other places to visit close by?

Cheers for the reply. That sounds like the sort of thing the FIL would love but he's probably going to KSC.
Are the any decent shopping areas around? Are there any beaches closer than Coco beach

How about Merritt Island Mall, it's about 15 mins south of KSC.
