A MAGICal Adventure WBTA / Day 12 Amazing Antigua - 17/09/2014

I felt a pang of sadness today as our arrival into Antigua signalled, in my eyes, the beginning of the end of our cruise. There would be no more sea days, and we had just 3 port days, which I knew would go by like a flash, and it would be home time.

In any case, we had to make sure we made the most of every second for the next three days, so we headed up for breakfast at Lumiere's at 8.30am. We were asked if we'd mind sharing a table, and we advised not, so long as it wouldn't delay our breakfast, as Kim and Ross had agreed earlier and it took more than two hours to have breakfast.

This time Matt had the Pineapple French Toast stack

I just had scrambed eggs and ham

We thankfully weren't impacted, so we headed up to deck 10 forward to watch the ship approach land, and we just stood there taking it all in for the next hour.

We had agreed the night before to meet Kim and Ross and share a cab over to the beach in Antigua, since we had similar plans, so we grabbed our bags from our room, and went to knock for them. It was busy getting off the ship but it didn't take us too long, and the taxi hut was easily identifiable.

We asked to go to Dickinson Bay, as it is probably the best known beach on the island, but our driver, Barry, suggested we go to a different beach on the Caribbean side of the island, ratehr than the Atlantic. It would costs a couple more dollars in taxi fares for each of us, but it sounded sensible so we followed his recommendation. It took about 20 minutes to get to Valley Church Beach, and cost $8 per person (Matt and I tipped $2 each way too).

We arrived at Valley Church at 11.30am and after marvelling at its beauty for a while, we headed straight for the sea and stayed in there for about an hour, I think! We lounged and swam at the beach until 2.30pm, when Barry arrived to pick us up and take us back to the port.

It was absolutely stunning!

I had run out of hairspray, so we went our separate ways at the port so I could get some more (I found a shop selling beauty supplies, $4) and we also bought two Quiksilver tshirts for Matt's other little boy in a swimwear shop ($10 each, bargain!) and some more sun lotion ($16) as we'd run out of that too! Packing for this trip was certainly different to our normal holidays! I never normally run out of anything! Lol.

We got back on board at 3.30pm, and had some pizza and ice cream for a late lunch. We then rode the Twist & Spout and Aquadunk, and watched the end of Enchanted on Funnel Vision.

At 4.30pm, we headed back to our room to get ready for the evening.

Tonight's show was Junnk, a group of four young British guys using 'rubbish' as percussion. It was a bit like Stomp. It was an enjoyable show, and the Michael Jackson set was especially impressive!

After the show, we met Kim and Ross for the Pub Quiz in O'Gills (we didn't win...again!). I think Kim and Ross bought our drinks that night.

Dinner tonight was at Lumiere's for the Prince & Princess menu. We had:

Slow roasted duck and cheese Quesadilla

Tomato and goat cheese salad

Potato and Sausage casserole soup

Rosemary scented lamb medallions

Lemon cheesecake

Vanilla ice cream

After dinner, we went to the shop, as I'd decided that I wanted to buy a 2014 DCL tshirt. It was advertised at $22.95 I think, but it scanned through at $16.99! Bargain!

At 10.30pm, we went to watch the Kyle Knight and Mistie adult show in Fathoms. Mistie pulled Matt to one side when we walked in and asked him to assist her in one of the tricks in the show, but his shyness meant that he had to decline! I was gutted, that would have been awesome!

After the show, we went to bed. Tonight's towel animal was a swan

I found day 11 in the index. Terrible score on movie quotes, that's the only one we're any good at
