Mobile Getting to DTD

Rather than driving or getting bus to DTD I was considering going to a resort hotel and walking over or getting a boat.

Any recommendations on which resort hotel I should go to?

OP. I assume you are getting a bus to one of the nearer hotels? The reason I say is that you will not be allowed to leave a car there for an extended period.
The boat from POR is a nice little trip.
