My parents spent a couple of months exploring California last year and went onto the Queen Mary for cocktails, I think they quite enjoyed wandering around. It does look a bit tatty though in your pics which is a shame.

Glad Connor has got into the spending spirit now too!
Oh yes and he didn't stop spending either !

I was over the moon with the tweet and email it was truly amazing.. I can't wait to do the trip report for it..

The Queen Mary is impressive but it is a shame its look tatty , I suppose it would cost too much to renovate though?

I was and still am over the moon...

Barstow is ok , It has a fab Mcdonalds made from old railway carriages which is cool and then a few other typical chain food places.

Loving this report too - especially as we are planning to do the Queen Mary tour. (I remember the ship from when I was a kid!). Where is Peggy Sue's diner? Would we be able to get there on our drive from Vegas to Anaheim?

Thank you.

You'll pass by Peggy's Sue Diner :-) Its not far from Calico Ghost town about 10 miles before you get to Barstow.

Its on the side of the road.

I didn't realise you could do tours of the Queen Mary I thought it was just a hotel till we got there and saw the ticket office.

It's like a time warp, completely hokey but we enjoyed it.

Can't believe your luck - how amazing! Brilliant!

You see reading trippies is bad for you as now I want to squeeze in a trip to the Queen Mary! I might have to just add it and pretend to DH that it's been there all along! After our stay in Anaheim, we're travelling to LA for a couple of nights so am hoping that we can go then if it's not out of the way.
