I should also add, he won’t want anything bulky, the smaller the better. Thanks.

We have a Sanyo which takes High Definition video and stills and is stereo sound. Depends what you want to pay.
Something along these lines would cost you £150 ish.

Even more sophisticated will cost you even more.

We bought our DD a Panasonic Lumix compact camera for Christmas. She is a keen photographer and video film maker. She is very pleased with it, although she says she is still practising with all it's functions. It has 4K video which she was particularly keen to have. As it is a compact camera, it is a nice size and weight, not at all bulky or heavy. It was quite expensive at around £350 but it is very good, it depends on what price range you are looking at.

Go Pro is not for me - but everyone is different - but it can be taken underwater.

This is a good article - I have just bought a Sony RX100 MK 3 - 1" sensor and 4K video - but expensive - but not so expensive as MK4/5

I had a Sony DCS-HX60V and really liked it - costs less than above - but the drawback for me was no viewfinder or tiltable screen and hard to use in bright sunlight - this is all sorted now in the Sony DSCHX90V and it has a super 30x zoom lens - my more expensive camera has limited zoom capability.

Both easily fit in a pocket.

The Canon G9 MK2 is more affordable than my first Sony - but excellent camera.

Good luck - buying a camera to suit someone is quite difficult.
If you buy a quality camera though, it can normally be sold on with not a huge loss taken.

Thanks so much for all the information. My son although 21 is autistic, with other health problems and he just wants a camera with good video, it’s so hard as i, have no knowledge of this sort of thing, his sister just said to me about the Go pro, but that’s means nothing to me either. I will have a look at all the information, you have given me, I have plenty of time, no need to buy till August.
