Also, another question (sorry), we land at MCO at 15:50, what sort of time should we put down to collect the car?
Our return flight is at 19:00, what time should we put down to return the car? You can tell we are car hire newbies... |

As you are picking up at an airport location they are used to ealy/late/very very late arrivals!
I would put collect at 16.45hrs and drop off at 16.30. If you pick it up early then that's fine. Or if you are late that's also fine. But! Ensure you get it back on time. The key is the time you exit the barrier. For example if you exit at 16.10hrs then make sure you are back by 16.05. Edit. Alamo allow you 30 mins grace for being late returning. After that they charge by the hour for 2 hours, after that they hit you for an extra day. That extra day is charged at the prevailing rate to hire as a 'walk in' so will be a lot more than you paid per day to originally hire.

Hi Tom
I notice your timings above will push over 24 hrs if you know what I mean If you booked 1630 to 1630 would it not be cheaper than 1630 to 1645? I always look at the time I exit the barrier as you say and note that I have to be back by that time on day of return. I bow to your knowledge I’m most probably getting it wrong...I do more often as the years progress Edited at 05:14 PM. |

More over, A debit card in US is considered a CC, as long as it carries the MasterCard or VISA logo. So you can book with your card and use it as verification at the counter.
I never use a CC abroad and hope to never need to.
