DLP in January

What is DLP like in January? In the past we have only been in the summer and an unusually warm November.

As it will be cold I'm booking sit down meals for each day so at least we can get in the warm for a while.

Is it quieter? (we're there Tuesday to Friday)
When do the parks close?

We are going again in January, Tues to Friday too. It was bitingly cold so get some thermals. Park was busy but not crowded. DL shut about 8pm. I think Studios was 7pm. Studios was definitely shut before DL.

Be mindful that there might be more ride closures at this time of year due to it being quieter and so refurbishments take place at this time.

We’ll make sure to pack the thermals. It’s good to hear that the DL pack might be open until 8pm, I was worried that it would be earlier.

That’s fine, we’ve visited WDW quite a few times in Jan/Feb and there are always closures.

We loved DLP in January. Much quieter and it wasn’t actually that cold when we went in Jan 2023 (although I think this was an exception). Parks did close early but the village was still open late, and we just tended to go for dinner/ drinks at the hotel bar after park close. When we went there was just 1 big ride that was closed which was hyperspace mountain.

One thing I would say though, if you’re into merch it wasn’t that good at that time of year. All the same stock in every shop.

Weather wise I’ll be happy if it’s dry & not too windy 😀

I *think* the fireworks were on at 8pm.

We went in January this year, Thursday to Sunday. It was freezing cold (they had snow the night before we drove down, so it did make it quite magical, seeing Disney/our hotel etc in the snow) but we wrapped up in layers, gloves, bobble hats etc (and frequent hot chocolates helped). The queues were reasonable, Crush's Coaster was the longest at 55 mins (for single rider), we'd tried to ride first thing but it opened later due to iciness.

Not sure if it was due to being there on a weekend but the parks were open a bit later, on the Saturday we stayed at the main to watch the night time show at 9pm, the Studios closed an hour before.

Just a warning to make sure you're wearing shoes with good grips, I was wearing trusty old comfy running shoes, but because it was so icy I completely wiped out twice! Once in the shop by the Ratatouille ride and once walking through the shopping arcade at the Studios entrance. Fortunately only my pride was dented but I was mortified - especially as when I took the second tumble, mid fall I reached out to try and grab anything to save myself and accidentally grabbed a (thankfully empty) pushchair that came down with me 🙈🙈 the women near me were very helpful but I just wanted to let the ground open up and swallow me

I’ll probably be wearing my snow boots no matter what the weather is 😀 I’m glad you didn’t hurt yourself falling, it’s easily done.
