Cornwall- where to stay- suggestions welcome!

Morning,

We are heading to Cornwall in May 2022 and I am trying to get accommodation booked nice and early

We have 4 nights in an airbnb booked St Agnes and plan doing a bit touring from there. The plan is to book 2 x nights self catering with a sea view to visit Kynance Cove, Porthcurno, Minack Theatre, Lizard

Looking for suggestions on where to stay when in this area. Having read through lots of threads (fab info on the Dibb, special mention to Cornishfrogboy) would love recommendations. I have seen a nice apartment in Mousehole, which I thought was very apt

Easy beach access would be brilliant, however happy with having a sea view and access to the pub for dinner and couple of drinks

Thanks in advance

The Old Success inn in Sennen cove has 3 apartments right across the road to beautiful Sennen cove and obviously part of the pub.

You have mentioned two specific areas and not four.

Kynance is on the lizard and is a large, almost moorland area with other bits to see. I am guessing you will spend a day on it.
Worth seeing as a tourist area...
Kynance , isolated and has a dedicated carpark and walk down to the cove.
Lizard village (sellsrather good pasties ).
From lizard, you will find a rather good walk down, through a churchyard and out to the cliffs. It takes in a lifeboat station that launches down a ramp into the sea, a lighthouse and some fantastic scenery.
Goonilly earth station (if you are into that sort of thing).

This walk is from the NT site. It covers all of your bases. As can be seen on the map, if you don’t want to walk all of it, then you could drive in to Kynance, do that and then drive on to Lizard Village to take in the other part.

Minack, Porthcurno (and Pedn Vounder with the 70 ton rocking rock) is to all intents and purposes the same place, well west towards the pointed end and beautiful. It is probably 50 miles from Lizard village. If you walk from Porthcurno to Pedn vounder at low tide, then just remember that tides come back in and you may find yourself taking the cliff walk out!
If the weather is not beachy, you have..
Lands end. A tourist trap.
Wheal Geevor mine.. fascinating and takes you in a mine, a processing plant etc etc. It is fantastic.
Botallack mines. You will have seen my earlier pictures.
Levant mine.

WHERE TO STAY.

Mousehole is pretty, cramped, windy narrow roads and very much an archetypal Cornish Village. Parking can be horrible. A nice way to approach it is to enter Penzance, go past the railway station, along the Promenade and through Newlyn. It would work well for going further West.

I personally would look for self catering in Porthleven.
Great harbour.
Has good restaurants, cafe etc.
Certainly picturesque.
Has shops and is only 3 miles from Helston with its Tesco and Sainsbury.

Porthleven puts you on the main road going from Plymouth to Penzance it is close to the Lizard and very well placed for the drive onwards to Porthcurno. A good, central, pretty location, big enough that you should get accommodation.
On the drive from Porthleven towards Penzance, you go through Rosudgeon. If you go down the Lane at the side of the cricket ground, you will find Prussia Cove.. possibly the prettiest cove in Cornwall. It is worth a quick stop as you go through. If it is a Wednesday afternoon. There is a big boot sale on that Cricket Ground.
When driving towards Penzance, leave the main road and drive through Marazion. It takes minutes and you will get some great views of St Michaels Mount.. well worth the detour.

Porthleven on a fine day.

Porthleven on an even finer day!

Lots of info and I hope it helps. Any questions, then you only have to ask.

You are aware that the G7 starts on the 7th?

Whilst it is over the hill at Carbis Bay, I must point out that the Press are based in Falmouth and also that the Police have an accommodation cruise liner moored in the bay. It will be busy!

If this coincides with your dates, then I would consider per booking restaurants as with both numbers and Covid restrictions, bookings could be at a premium.

If it helps, you could tell me the size of your group, what you like eating and what end of the market you seek. As said before, I know the area well and can make suggestions.
