Our last trip in 2015 was our first and only without any of the grown up kids.
They were all in their 20's then. I must say I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, it was so much easier without any dynamics , just DH and I to decide what we wanted to do and only picking up food and drink tab for just ourselves 😁 . Next trip in Oct 22 is everyone plus DD's finance , though I stressed we need to all do our own hotel bookings and organising to some extent. I know a villa would be cheaper for six adults but I feel it would be too much, and I'd fall into Mum mode asking who wants something to eat and clearing up .

Not sad whatsoever. They have flown the nest, they have careers and they are independent. We are happy going on our own. We have made it known that we want to be there when the grandchildren go to the MK for the first time.

Funnily enough, we did it the other way round. The first 3 times we visited WDW alone as adults. Then we visited WDW with our daughter. We already loved the place visiting on our own so it was great visiting with my daughter at different ages afterwards. She's 19 now and still happy to come with us.
I would say it's neither better nor worse when we visited before my daughter came along. It was just a little different.
