Day 6
We thought the brickies were only going to be here for a couple of hours but they ended up doing a full day! All the door/window openings are finished and old garage door is blocked up.

Block work just left to save boarding up and will be knocked out on Monday!

new back door into utility room.
Day off for us all before it starts again on Monday!

Day 9
So busy yesterday forgot to do this!
We are still ahead of schedule, good and bad! It has meant that we have had to clear out of kitchen 3 days early but as no electricity today I was quite happy to be packing up! Dh decided he wasn't going to let the builders have all the fun so has been ripping out some of the kitchen!

Electricity all moved and back on now - network company here at 8am and left by about 9.30, last half hour was just them chatting on the drive! Meter company here about 9am and finished just after 10. A lot quicker than when we had smart meters installed in our old house, but he only had one to do and the electrician had already removed the old one! We are now proud owners of a SMETS2 meter

Electrician has been here all day installing the new consumer unit and trying to work out where everything goes to and from. He has really worked his socks off. It is the same young chap that did all our bathroom work so he remembered how fickle this house is!

Tomorrow is rest of the kitchen out, possibly ceiling and floor out. They are going to screw a board across the current internal kitchen door so no one can just walk in, and also to keep us a bit warmer! Window company coming to measure up for the new doors/window. Wall will be coming down Thursday/Friday, cladding will go on old garage door blockwork. Steel should arrive next Monday/Tuesday, and then they can start to build internal studwork, floors and ceiling but nothing else until windows go in. We've been told bifolds only take a week but not sure how long the upvc door and window will be

Anyway that is all in the future and I will have to get organised for meals etc however tonight is chinese take out (is there any other way of eating it at the moment?) as I didn't know when we would have power back. I'm sure I will go back on this but actually feeling positive that everything is going faster than I expected. If Boris is right then we will be finishing about the same time as we are allowed to socialise again - have to make a "sleeps" chart

Very impressed with how organised and speedy your builders/contractors are. They are really cracking on.

Lovely work, and it all looks very professional.
Not as elaborate as your but we had a partition wall down and full refit of our kitchen and it seemed like forever but it really moved quite quickly.
It will be fabulous when done.

I haven’t posted pictures of our conservatory or spare room where I’ve moved everything too - definitely not organised😫
It is now the windows holding it all up as they wouldn’t supply to builders measurements, they wanted to wait and survey holes. We would have gone elsewhere but we were really pleased with the rest of the house that they did last year! Just hope it’s not too long a wait!

When we bought it we didn’t plan to take out the wall but it was the only way we could enlarge the kitchen and have sensible accesses. We hate houses that look a pickle or bodged so this was the best option 🥴

Now seeing it with no wall units wondering about missing mine out?

We are surprised that our room above the garage hasn’t been colder considering we have no insulation and 2 huge holes in the walls! Guess we are lucky the weather has warmed up. Only real downside is losing the water softener - didn’t realise what a difference it made to the water😫 Will have to clean the shower doors every day until it is put back on, will give me something to do as won’t be able to bake or cook!
loving the updates thanks but loving your cupcake jar wheres it from please ?
