Is using someone else's facebook photos illegal?
Is it legal for someone to take a picture I post on Facebook for their own business use without my approval?
My work has done a staff board with all the staff faces on. However someone has simply taken one of my photos off my Facebook page without my permission and put it on the staff board. I thought that my photos, like anyone else, are copyright and cannot be used like this. Can anyone advise please? Thanks

You do have copyright over your own pictures and they should have asked your permission, so you would be within your rights to ask them to remove it.

Every day on the Dibb is a learning day. I never knew this or even thought people would do it.
If they put my photo on their website they would go Bankrupt!

I would think it would depend on your privacy settings. This article goes into more detail, but I’m not sure if it is US or UK based

So the key here is that someone has taken a photo from facebook and reproduced it in full or part to be used some other place. If it was still within Facebook then it would not be illegal as you grant facebook the rights to use your images and also by sharing you grant others to use them on FB. But once out of that eco system normal rules apply , You took the photo you own the rights. But here is an intersting but, if your in the photo and its not a selfie or taken with a timer then you don't own the rights either, the person who took the photo does. So if you post a photo of yourself to FB which you asked a random stranger to take , you have breached copyright laws unless you asked them at the times to give you permission. In reality the value against the copyright is low and so it rarely gets followed up by individuals.

Sounds harsh but if you put stuff on social media, regardless of what Facebook, the DiBB etc say anyone can use it and you're never going to know
For example Possibly Mr T, will not know I've remastered his masterpiece ... |
