Do you think cavalcades are the new parades

Following today’s announcement there was no mention of parades only cavalcades.

Do you think they are gone for good?

They can’t be doing it for social distancing as the fireworks are much worse than parades in terms of being surrounded.

Sadly yes. Much cheaper for them to operate. And as long as guests continue to pile in without them, they won't see reason to bring them back. Just like the night time parades which used to be my favourite.

If Christmas is announced as an after hours event rather than a party, I'm considering that the final nail in the park as it was.

I would say yes, they are cheaper & apparently it's easier to manage crowd wise. Disney could & probably are basing a lot of decisions on this current "covid" bubble not so sure that it can be maintained when Guests get the chance to actually sit back & look at Value for money

A cavalcade typically only has one vehicle or float and a handful of characters at the most. Think of seeing the first float in a parade and then it's over, and you pretty much have a cavalcade. Sometimes it's not even a float, it will just be characters driven around in one of the Main Street vehicles. Like the rainy day parade if you've ever seen that but again, only a single vehicle.

It's a cute little experience, but it's no parade.

Oh ok, thank you. I had googled and it said a procession hence my not understanding.

I have a funny feeling that it will be the case outside of hard ticket events. Lots of people crowding for the parade = no one spending money while having to incur extra expense putting on more staff to manage the crowds.
The fact they never replaced the electrical parade I think was the beginning of the end for parades, Covid just sped it up. Hopefully I am wrong...

They are just like the old character busses that used to pop up round the parks
I really hope they don’t stop parades
We can remember doing the parade in The Studios Animal Kingdom Epcot Magic Kingdom then the light parade and fire works in MK all in one day as well as one ride in each park precious memories

The cavalcades do look really cute but I hope they bring back the main parades too, they are special!

Hmm, that's an interesting question.

I can see how a lot of people love the big parades but I've never been one to wait for one so I'd be fine with the impromptu cavalcades - just as long as they bring back the Move It! Shake It! Dance It! Street Party, lol.

But sadly I can't see the parades coming back in the same way that we were used to.
