booking.com question

I made a reservation for three nights via booking.com who I have used for years.

I've just had a watsap from the owner saying

Nuestra terminal no acepta su tarjeta.
Tiene que autorizar su tarjeta manualmente.

Our terminal does not accept your card.
You have to authorize your card manually.

I've never had this before ?

Is this normal

Looks like a scam. I never pay unless it's through booking.com or on arrival.

Not necessarily a scam, they would only be able to see your card from double logging in to their account have you put an amex on your booking or something out of the norm. Does it say on the property page what cards they accept? some properties are quite small and some of the credit cards are v expensive to accept, I dont take Amex at my property.

Booking.com have said that the details I put in were sufficient for that property and NOT to pay. They and the owner are now sorting out their issues of which I won't be party too. I've now booked elsewhere

You can never be too careful. There are cases where people have booked and have paid and they have gone through a scam booking site. If your booking is over £100 if you can always pay using a credit card .

Thanks. I've CX booking and booked elsewhere exactly as I have before
Oddly enough I've just had a message from my bank here asking to confirm a purchase online on €215. Obviously I've not confirmed it as I've not bought anything

Had this with booking, was my debit card out of date, hotel tried to take the authorisation payment and card declined, had an email though. Check your card on booking website.
Unless you don’t have a saved card on the site of course.
