Justice for Dalian

Finally yesterday PC Monk was convicted for the manslaughter of former premier league footballer Dalian Atkinson. Glad his family have finally got closure. This was an absolute tradgedy.

Shame this case has received so little coverage in the uk

And he tried to wriggle out of it! Disgrace to his profession!

Think it’s more a case of where were the marches, destruction of statues, queues of celebrities on tv professing their outrage, footballers taking the knee, Lewis Hamilton. The case of Dalian Atkinson seems to have passed the majority the British public by

Jailed for eight years - seems light IMO, given all the circumstances

I guess it is about average. I've read the sentencing remarks - starting point in this case was 6 1/2 years, so there must have been more weighting given to aggravating factors than mitigating ones. Main aggravating factor was that the offence was committed whilst on duty as a police officer. I watched the Chauvin sentencing hearing last week and a phrase was used - "in your custody means in your care". Atkinson's situation clearly called for care, but sadly that's not what he got.
