Changes to Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
Virgin Atlantic have announced changes to their Flying Club as from November 13th 2016 - here is the link:-
discoverflyingclub.virginatlantic/us#1384 Unfortunately as I have a "date" with Mickey I haven't had time to go through the full terms and conditions but will do so later to see how it affects DIBB flyers. Moderators feel free to move if necessary - as I can't post in Latest News. |

The UK version can be found here.
It's quite a considerable change so it's worth reading. Gold bonus miles down to 60% and Silver now 30% -Steve

Interestingly says under 12s can now have a flying club account.
Also for flights booked before November 13th, it states you will earn the miles at today's rate if that is better than the new terms. Hope the image has attached to show you! |

If you're on an UC 'Z' ticket, you'll now earn 27,782 as a Gold or 22,573 as a Silver. This compares to 21,722 or 17,430 respectively. Granted, changes aren't pretty if you're travelling in Economy or PE.
Economy redemptions have fallen from 42,500 to 25,000 in the standard period and increased to 45,000 for peak. A Premium return has gone from 70,000 to 45,000 in standard and down to 65,000 in peak. Upper has fallen 5,000 miles in standard and up to 115,000 in peak. This also means all miles for upgrades have decreased for the standard period and the only increase when using your miles to upgrade is UC in peak period. EDIT - obviously, I'm only referencing the Orlando / Miami route. Edited at 04:17 PM. |

Unless I'm reading that wrong, the off peak miles flights look much better value. 25,000 miles for an EC return instead of 42,500 currently and 45,000 for PE return instead of 70,000 currently. As it says 'return' I'm taking it as that's the total for a return flight, not per leg? If I'm right, then we now have enough miles for 4 PE return flights rather than EC
