Mobile 21 day tickets - thoughts please

hi all

I appreciate no one has a crystal ball but do you think Disney will bring back 21 day ultimates again for next year or beyond?

thanks

IMO No, they are gone for good but I think they will have to look at options for those longer stays as there is too much of a jump for a 14 day use to AP- the only other current option. When you look at the US/canada options you do quickly realise how good a deal the ultimate is compared to it's US equivalent. Nearest is a 10 day & by the time you add park hopping etc it's easily a few£100s dearer & they don't get Memory maker. The other thing they have gone towards is date based pricing & again this isn't a restriction on Ultimates so who knows what's coming Post Oct 1st next year!

I think they will be back once park reservations are no longer required, though nothing would surprise me with Disney at the moment!

I secured 2 x 21 day ult tickets as p/o my package this year (which I had to cancel and move forward to 2021).
My tix are still showing up and i've reserved all my parks for 21 days
BUT

If there were no 'offers' for 2021, I was going to downgrade my hotel to a value and

I was thinking of changing the 21 day tix to a DVC Annual Gold Pass as there's not much price difference and the AP will last me for 2 trips, not just one.

BUT
afraid I may lose my park reservations if I change hotel AND change 21 day tix.

So think I may hang on and just upgrade them when I get to disney (hopefully) next year.

Not sure if these tix are coming back. Hoping its like the dining ie temporary!

Lesley only flaw in your plan is if/when they raise the price of the AP, again! Especially if it's like the previous "Huge" leap one!

There was such a small difference between the price of 14 - 21 day, that so would be surprised if they brought them back, what’s the incentive for them?
It’s a shame as we chose them and it does give great flexibility😥

The thought had occurred to me but the risk of losing my 21 days booked in the parks is worse than any increase!

I'll just have to go to guest services when I arrive to get it sorted.

The incentive is that those visiting the parks spend money. My guess is that only very few of the people with 21-day tickets spend 21 full days in the parks, but that most of them either pop in for a few hours a day or take a break from Disney in week 2, and then go back in week 3.

As long as the low capacity constraints are in place those who pop in for a few hours a day take away spots from guests who would spend more time and money in the parks. I believe this is the reason they pulled the tickets for the time being. Once they're up to or close to full capacity again, what reason would there be for them to turn away people who want to come for a few hours?

My point was, currently people who stay on site ‘nip’ to a park for 1 or 2 rides, then to another park because they know they have 21 days. If they have 14, they might stay in each park longer and visit less times?
I completely get that people spend money when in the park, but if there are less days to visit, people may stay longer when they do visit and therefore spend more each time (for example they might stay for dinner in the park etc)
This allows Disney to sell more 1day-3day tickets which would more then make up for the loss.
I get the feeling that customers who stay on site are having their benefits eroded (eg parking, magic bands), this could be another privilege lost / the convenience?
Just my thoughts obviously 😄

I think you're spot on, less days but longer days is better for them as long as there are capacity constraints. Once they go back to full capacity, though, I don't see why they would/should discourage many short days. I'm sure they have data on this but my gut is telling me the overall time spent at the parks is still higher with many short visits than with fewer long visits.

Based on our own visiting pattern I know we'd spend less time in the parks in total if we didn't have 21-day tickets for longer trips. We also would not spend more nights onsite than we have tickets for with recent resort prices. We have done this in the past but not at these prices.
