Talking of food banks, not just at Christmas.

I asked our local one if they also accepted ‘personal’ items such as deodorant, women’s sanitary products and baby’s nappies. They have now added these items to the “Wanted” lists they publish on their website & FB.

Being a food bank people don’t often consider toiletries etc dd get a monthly beauty box so had a major sort out and we donated all the things she doesn’t want/won’t use.
Our local branch currently has carrier bags on their most urgently needed list so found a good use for all the spare bags I had accumulated and no longer use - we’ve switch to using the bigger Aldi reusable bags

mandco I would love for local schools to request for donations for personal care items as I would gladly donate via them also.
We should all do a little if we can
What a great request for bags , I have also so many reusable bags !

My dh’s company have an Amazon gift list of toys they want / need for children in care and we picked a few things off there and sent them.
Last year we filled a couple of shoe boxes for a local charity which dd enjoyed doing.
Going to do the weekly shop in a minute so will add some stuff for the food bank and I’ll make sure to add some toiletries after these posts!

Our food bank also asks for nappies, usually size 5 and 6.

I donated food earlier this week to the local supermarket. I bought it and dropped it straight into their Trussell Trust box. The box was overflowing, but later on that evening I had to go back again to the pharmacy part of the store and I saw that it had been emptied.
