2022 Epic Cruise & Orlando Eats - Disney Springs 1 added
Hi All,
I love reading a good food report so I've decided to put one together myself in the hope it gives (almost) as much enjoyment to others as I will have eating everything. This will be a trip with 2 adults trying to enjoy as much food and drink as we can possible manage. Just a bit of back story about the trip as it's not technically a 'Disney Trip' as such. It started off as a rearranged cruise after our 2020 NY and Cruise to Bermuda was cancelled Fast Forward to 2021 where we decided to transfer to the new MSC Seashore cruise from Miami to the Caribbean and Antilles sailing on 23 April. Well I seen an opportunity and took this upon myself to squeeze so much needed Orlando time into the plans. I have therefore ended up with 2 nights in Miami, a 7 night cruise followed by 8 nights in Orlando. I have pre-booked the 1903 lounge in Manchester airport before the flight. Flights are Aer Lingus 13:10 via NY to Miami where I have booked Ocean Reef Suite on South Beach for 2 nights with a continental breakfast included. No firm plans for food just yet as we only have one full day so were just going to wander around and grab something when we're hungry as we've been to Miami a number of times. We board the cruise on 23 April at 12pm. Now when I booked the cruise I booked a balcony cabin suite with a basic beverage package. Shortly after I received a call to advise that they needed to assign cabins for covid restrictions and we would be required to move cabins and would be allocated the next level up. This was a balcony suite with a Whirlpool on the balcony #winning. Anyway when I received my paperwork, we have been upgraded to the MSC Yacht club. After frantic research turns out this is an exclusive area known as a 'ship within a ship' where we receive the premium package and have access to exclusive areas and have our own butler service I will make sure I take plenty of pictures of the posh nosh and champers that I will be partaking in don't worry Whilst on the ship we will be docking at Jamaica, Cayman islands (tbc due to current covid restrictions for cruise ships), Mexico and MSC's own private Island. When we leave the cruise I have hired a car from Avis and the plan is to drive the A1A to Orlando and stop a few times to see the beaches before we check into the Avanti international for 6 nights. During this time we will be visiting universal and eating a mixture of I Drive and Universal places. On the list currently are: Breakfast: Denny's, Perkins, Dunkin Doughnuts, BK, Cinnabon, Voodoo Doughnuts Lunch/Dinner: Bahama Breeze, Longhorns, Maggiano's, Chillis, Yard House, Ole Red's, Panda Express, Chocolate Emporium, Cowfish The last 2 nights will be spent at the Hilton at LBV so we will be doing a couple days at Disney Springs and I'm planning a monorail bar crawl to see the fireworks at MK. Food mentions: Earl of Sandwich, Polite Pig, Homecomin, Gideons, Everglaze, Food Trucks So that's the plan. We will see how it goes First update - https://DIBB.in/15399851 1 week to go - https://DIBB.in/15403217 Test Day - https://DIBB.in/15411996 Travel Day - https://DIBB.in/15444764 Day 1 - https://DIBB.in/15444965 Cruising - https://DIBB.in/15449290 Jamaica - https://DIBB.in/15457638 Grand Cayman - https://DIBB.in/15458571 Mexico - https://DIBB.in/15459740 Cruising - https://DIBB.in/15461717 Ocean Cay - https://DIBB.in/15468916 Miami to Orlando - https://DIBB.in/15473219 Universal Studios - https://DIBB.in/15487589 Volcano Bay - https://DIBB.in/15493163 Islands of Adventure - https://DIBB.in/15496179 US & IOA - https://DIBB.in/15500398 Seaworld - https://DIBB.in/15500576 Disney Springs 1 - https://DIBB.in/15501893 Edited at 07:15 AM. |

The balcony suite upgrade sounds fabulous. Not long for you now, just a couple of months and you're off on your travels. I can't wait to read all about it.

Sounds amazing! I am just gutted you travel the same time as us as would have definitely been hoping for some tips. Super jealous of the Yacht club! We are sailing the same day as you from Miami but on Symphony of the Seas. Hope you have a fab time!

Update on a couple additional things i've booked.
Its been over 10 years since I last visited Seaworld so I decided to buy a day pass, Its the last few days of the Seven Seas Food festival and its also Cinco De Mayo so i'm hoping we will have a fun day there. I also called ahead and booked priority seating in Volcano bay as we had this last time and thought that the lockers were really handy and it was nice to chill and have server bring you food and drinks saving you queuing for things. Been watching lots of vlogs on the cruise ship and on Universal to get ourselves excited. Still got a couple things left to do and i'm holding out for a few more weeks for the covid tests. Not that I think anything is likely to change just yet! good thing is my work are flexible so in the 2 week prior to travel I'll be 100% homeworking to try to minimise my chance of contracting covid. I'm now within the 1 month mark so i'm feeling the excitement. |

Days leading up to travel day
Countdown showing 10 days to go!
This is the day that all measures must be taken to reduce the risk of catching covid and scuppering the whole trip. Queue me completing the shopping for the next 10 days so no one needed to visit the supermarket for any reason, boxes of wine were bought instead of bottles as you need to make sure you don't run out - right?! Husband has strict instructions to sanitise hands at the gym and not to stand within 2 metres of anyone! I've cancelled any social engagements and my friends and family have been warned that I will only engage in telephone conversations and if they turn up at my door it will be a chat through the letter box. Husband thinks i've gone mental picking up the post by the very edges! Work will be 100% done from home these next couple weeks. I've had to book 2 Covid tests - so supervised lateral flows will take place next Wednesday morning before we fly. However the cruise line demands that a test be taken no more than 2 days prior to getting on the ship so we will have to do another (thankfully just a paid lat flow) on the Thursday morning before we set of to the airport at 5am! Countdown shows 9 days Queue hysteria as hubby walks through the door with a McD's breakfast! Why do i bother? |
