Concert in Brixton London
Hi any advice welcomed, daughter is going to a concert at Brixton academy where would be a safe area of London for her to stay preferably on public transport route. Travelling from south west likely by coach. I do not know London at all so struggling to help her. Thank you.

My son has just been to a concert at the Brixton o2 academy (first time in London without parents) and he stayed at the Premier Inn Brixton which is really close, easy walking distance and he felt happier than going on public transport late at night.

I have stayed there, it’s very near the tube station, felt very safe. Lots of shops nearby and a nice independent cinema too.

I used to live in Brixton, I lived there for 4 years. Its been a few years but I'm sure not much has changed. Brixton on a concert night is a very busy place. Theres huge amounts of people around. The Academy is about 5 to 10 minutes walk from the Tube Station. Come out of the tune and turn right and go under the train bridge. On concert nights theres a steady stream of people going from the Tube to the The Academy. The area around the tube station can be a lively area on concert nights. I remember coming home and the ticket touts used to be at the top of the stairs shouting about tickets for that nights concert. There used also be street preachers and other street "entertainment" and merchandise sellers. I walked to The Academy and walked home afterwards but if I was going now I would stay at The Premier Inn. The The Premier Inn is located in the opposite of the tube station, on Cold Harbour Lane, which is around the corner from KFC. That side of the Tube Station, Iceland to KFC can have other kinds of street sellers. They don't bother anyone, in fact walking home I felt safe seeing the same sellers in the same spots outside Iceland every night. I used to get a bus outside KFC when I got off the tube, at all hours of the day and night and was never hassled. Anyone standing at the bus stops outside KFC are locals going home. The Tube after concerts gets crowded and you need to check the times of the last tube. There are tons of buses from Brixton to various parts of London. There are also 2 24 hour buses from Brixton, the N159 and the N133. The buses from Brixton to other parts of London go from the bus stops opposite the tube station, outside Morleys Department Store. Living in Brixton, I used to get the night buses on a regular basis. I used to joke with my friends, on the night buses there are 2 types of people, The people downstairs are the people going to work or coming home from work, they are all quiet and half asleep, either tired from work or not awake yet. The people upstairs are the party people, either coming home from a night out or going onwards to another place. Again I never had an issue on the buses, I just used to stay downstairs with the sleepy quiet people. |
