Mobile Dog friendly breaks

DH and I are considering a short break in September with our dog.

We were hoping for a trip to Tenerife but dog sitting may be an issue so we’re having to rethink.

Looking for some ideas, preferably no more than about three hours from South Wales.

We’d ideally like somewhere quiet, a lodge or cottage with a beach nearby, nice walks and dog friendly places to eat.

Any ideas would be much appreciated x

Brechfa Forest Barns is lovely for a stay- very doggy friendly, dog play park in a secured field area, lots of forest walks nearby and some beautiful country parks and beaches
within a half hour drive.

Looks gorgeous but unfortunately fully booked for our dates.

Otter Falls in Honiton is really nice and not far from dog friendly beaches at Sidmouth and Lyme Regis.

We stayed there last year, I think you helped us out with lots of really helpful info 👍

We really loved it but fancy trying somewhere different. Looking at Looe but just wondering if it’s a bit far with the dog.

I do this regularly and it’s often just myself and my Labrador.

Whilst looking at specific cottages isn’t a bad idea, I would suggest choosing a short list of 2-3 places you fancy visiting. I’ve done Scotland, the lakes, Northumberland coast etc, and I’m going to Yorkshire in a week.

Once you have chosen your dates and your short list look at air bnb and google the area. Booking.com also has some self catering. As I’m on my own I often do a mix of self catering (which is preferable with the dog but expensive) and hotels which can be cheaper and my husband prefers when he can come.
I’ve even taken him to travelodges when it’s convenient

We are in South Wales too and always have ‘the dogs holiday’ on August bank holiday weekend in Cornwall. We stay in various places but find Cornwall to be mostly dog-friendly and there is always somewhere different for us to visit. We don't find the drive too bad at all.
