It did look a bit 18-30 ‘s but the series seemed to show a lot of older people who just thought they were still 18-30 !

Yup lots of mutton dressed as lamb , made me cringe tbh. Not sure if it was just because the cameras were there and the more grounded passengers (oh sorry ….sailors) kept away but there seemed to be a lot of “trying too hard” going on .
We had talked about trying them but definitely won’t now.

I rightly or wrongly assumed that being a fat, 40 something couple who barely drink and definitely don't party Virgin wasn't going to be a cruise line for us.

Then early this year one of DH's colleagues, a 60 year old went and said it was one of the best cruises he has ever been on (and he's a veteran cruiser). He said the service was exceptional, the ship beautiful, the food top notch. We almost booked from Barcelona in May as the offers were excellent but the possibility of testing positive for COVID before boarding and being stranded in Spain made me nervous and we sailed on Princess from the UK instead.

Having watched the TV show, I am glad we didn't... and it has most definitely put us off now.

I sailed on VV's Valiant Lady in April. I've been on plenty of cruises and it was by far the worst cruise experience I've had. The ship looked lovely and the crew were nice, but there were many problems with Virgin's take on cruising and the quality was not on par with other cruise lines. They've tried to reinvent the wheel, when they really didn't need to. I think experienced cruisers will struggle to enjoy their offering, much like I did.

We have friends in their 60’s who also absolutely rave about the cruises. They are actually quite shy and retiring so I guess you get as involved as you like

I like a good time but the one episode I sore where Ryan was swearing at the "sailors" as they were boarding put me off. I dont think they have showcased much of the ship. I think some of the crew are a bit OTT for my liking but there'll be plenty who do like that sort of thing.

I said the same thing, seems to be just about getting wasted and you can do that in your local pub if thats your thing. As a 59 year old I think theres nothing sadder than seeing someone like the tattoo lady saying how wild and cool she is - just all trying too hard. Even the shore trips were about parties and drinking - thought the point of a cruise was to visit different places in comfort. Def not for me.
