South lake Tahoe

We have been tinkering with our itinerary for next June and now plan to visit Lake Tahoe for 2 nights as it's somewhere neither of us have been.

We are looking at South because of driving distances, heading there from San Francisco then onto Yosemite afterwards.

As it's a new place for us any recommendations for places to stay/eat and things to do as a family with a 9yo and 11yo. Thanks

South lake tahoe is just in california and you can walk over to nevada for the casinos. So when looking at accomodation do check out the casinos if mid week you may get some great deals. There are lots of water based activities or hiking in the area. At the right time of the year you can do skiing, but i guess your going in teh summer.

Hi it�s a lovely place. Perhaps hire a boat for a trip on the lake or go on a guided trip.you can also go up on the ski lifts or take a drive around the lake with lots of stopping points For lunch etc. Approx 70 miles to drive round

We were there last week! We were supposed to be in Yosemite (booked in a year in advance) but due to the washburn fire we cancelled last minute and had to find somewhere else to fill our time, so it wasn't somewhere I knew anything about or had done any research on. I booked an airbnb which was only �70 more than the YVL. for the whole house. It was in the little town of Meyers 6 miles away from SLT and we really liked the location. We mainly filled our time with visiting the AMAZING lakes and beaches. Pope beach and Sand Harbour were our favourites.

Have a look on youtube at 'Best Life and Beyond' as they did a vlog for the week we were there, which sums it up the area perfectly.
