Christmas day at Disneyland and where to eat?

We are booked to spend the Christmas and new year period in LA (woo!) staying in orange county.
First time on the west coast over Christmas i would love to do the parks on christmas day. Who's done DL on Christmas day before? is it really super crazy and wont get on many rides?
also, any recommendations for where is good to eat for Christmas day?for a special treat? Where is good character dining. we have been to DL before but not done any character dining.

I have been on Boxing Day and it wasn’t that busy - but it’s not a holiday in US. Christmas Day there are loads of options and they do get booked out early - normally in Palm Springs not sure about OC - in PS they have a desert light show and parade - everything is open Christmas Day

(This year we will be in cape town so not idea what to expect / as long as there is no tinsel I will be happy !)
