CBR or CS?

Booked to take my DS16 to CBR July 2023 but he's got to have knee surgery later this year. I've spoken to his consultant and he has assured me DS will be fine to go in time albeit he will need a brace. I know CBR doesn't have elevators and we may not be offered a ground floor room if others need them also. I know a lot of people rate CS as a resort but would it be preferable to CBR? It would mean £380 amendment fee to change so I'm wondering if it will be worth it or not? (I'm thinking we'll rent a scooter or similar and do more pool days than park days anyway but climbing stairs a lot might be a bit difficult if we're at CBR) Have never stayed at either so not sure. TIA

Have you considered Port Orleans French Quarter? It's a small resort so easy to get around and all buildings have lifts.

Just back from CBR with a fractured ankle in moonboot. On arrival, bell services quickly rearranged our room to be close to amenities and on the ground floor. They also gave me a wheel chair to use. I used the wheel chair to go to and from the pool but managed in my moonboot around the parks. It was really doable.

However, what was disappointing, is that they couldn’t guarantee me anything prior to arrival when I requested it on Disney chat. As a result I spent a week prior to arrival worrying about it. It was clear during our stay that many ground floor rooms near us were available for the duration of our visit so I am not sure why they could not guarantee this beforehand to alleviate the worry.

It is more expensive but you could change to Grand Destino Tower at CS as you would be guaranteed a lift.

we are in CSR casitas block 5 and there is a lift there. There is also a ramp that drops down with a straight run to the bua stop. There are plenty of ECVs around.
