Help - can’t dial UK numbers from mobile

Hi folks,
We’re here now and hopefully someone can help. We’re with EE but have an international roaming bolt-on but when we try and call a UK number, an American voice says the number is either restricted or unavailable. It seems the network itself In the US isn’t allowing us to dial out of the country.
I’ve tried different networks and different dialing code combinations but no luck.
Has anyone else encountered this who can help?

There was another thread where they had this problem and said they switched the carrier to T Mobile and it worked. No idea how to do that however or if it affects your using contract allowance.

I think you can select a different network provider in the settings menu

T-Mobile is the network I’m having the issue with. Tried AT&T and that just gives an engaged tone.

Just checking - do you have UK numbers stored in your phone in proper international format? i.e. +44 7xxx xxxxxx (if it was a mobile for example)? Also, worth giving it a go at dialling manually using the US's 011 international code, so try manually entering 011 44 7xxx xxxxxx and see if that works.

Probably a stupid question,have you turned the phone off and on? Have you texted roaming to 150? Phone network is set to automatic selection? Increase spend/data cap?

Its a long time since I made international calls on a fairly frequent basis, but isn't the American dialling tone somewhat similar to the UK engaged tone?
