American Airlines; combined baggage allowance

We are flying AA on Monday. We all have 23kg checked luggage and there are 4 of us. However I’ve managed to get it all into 2 cases (because we have a wheelchair too and will save space in cars this end and the other end) but the luggage weighs 25kg each. Can you combine your weight? I’ve done this with Jet2 before but can’t seem to find an answer with AA? So essentially we have 92kg but only using 50kg?

Thanks

I have always found that AA staff stick to the 23kg limit - you may be lucky but also think about the return journey. The maximum weight limit is 32kg but that is usually only for status or business passengers. So if AA go by the book the answer will be no you can't combine.

My understanding is that the weight limit is about health, safety and manual handling by airport staff.. hence 23kg.

Anything heavier may have to be handled in a different, more expensive manner.. hence the airlines being rigid about 23kg.

I agree, I don't think you can pool your allowance. Each case has to be under 23kg
