Birkenstocks require a bit of commitment to break in but once you do they are very comfortable. They last a long time too - I have pairs from years ago that are still going strong.

Good job I have until December to do this because I'm determined to have a pair!

I am currently trying to break a pair in for our upcoming trip and it requires a lot of persistence! I can go an hour or so now so hopefully by the trip I can at least wear them to go out for an evening meal 🤣

I just don’t find Birkenstocks comfy at all-they just don’t bend and I’ve had mine years!

I’m in universal right now in my ten year old Birkenstocks 😂 they do indeed last forever.

I can comfortably wear mine all day and don’t need to break in new pairs. Just lucky I guess.

I thought mine were finally broken in because they were comfortable at least, until I wore them to do some shopping in town the other day and ended up with cuts all over the top of my feet where the straps rubbed 😭

They’re fine for short walks or even all day if I’m not walking much but that was the first time I’d worn them when I was doing a lot of running around.

Edited at 12:36 AM.

Ouch! This is what puts me off, I can’t be doing with uncomfortable feet.

Get a pair of the plastic birks for the water rides! Game changer! 🤣

Wear socks while you break them in and use shoe balm on the straps to soften if they are rubbing your feet.

If your straps run your feet they are probably too lose or too tight. Adjust them and see how they are then.

If they still feel rough you can rub a candle on the inside of the strap, this will stop them slipping.

I live in birks all year round, there’s usually a fix to make them fit everyone. They come in narrow and standard width and I don’t think people realise this sometimes, then the footbed is too wide and the foot slips too much.
