How many stops?
Hi all, from SF to LA how many stops would you recommend? Could probably fit in 3 but ideally 2. And where would you all recommend?

For us it was...
3 nights in SFO 1 night in Monterey (wish it had been 2). 1 At the Madonna Inn in San luis Obispo ( awesome hotel) Then round the back of LA. 1 at Valencia (6 flags) 2 at Anaheim (Disney) .. Then beyond LA, but.. 5 at San Diego ( stunning) 1 at Long beach on the Queen Mary Up to Santa Monica that day for the guided tour and out of LAX that evening. We believe that two stops worked well to cover the 500 or so miles (we diverted inland on day 1 to Castle AFB at Atwater), we got a whale watching trip at Monterey and also saw the Elephant Seals on the PCH as we went to the Madonna Inn. Unfortunately for us, the drive from Monterey to the Elephant seals was inland due to the mudslide that closed the PCH. You won’t have that problem and thus, you might want to stop at Big Sur and Bixby Bridge etc.

I agree with 2. First time we did Pismo Beach and Santa Barbara. Last year we did a cabin in Big Sur by the river and the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo.
