1 night stop Gulf coast Where?
After our time in Orlando we are having a mini road trip.
Our trip is Orlando-Venice Beach- Naples- Miami- Fort Pierce- MCO However I am not too sure about Venice Beach? Is there much there? Is there anywhere that has a nice waterfront to walk along, close to hotels or a quaint little town. Can you recommend anywhere else for this leg of the journey? Thanks

Venice Beach is lovely, the town centre is full of old fashioned shops, bars and restaurants, The beaches are great although not walking distance from the shops, Sharkeys on the pier is good for food but drinks are pricey.

Have you looked at Casperson beach?
It is just south of Venice and is nice and quiet. There is a boardwalk behind it and you get plenty of birds such as Cranes on the beach. The highlight for us is searching for fossilised sharks teeth on the shoreline. you can improve your chances with a Walmart sieve and getting the sand from knee deep. Generally, a couple of hours will yield 30 or 40 teeth. Casperson Beach Sharks teeth from Casperson Just up towards Venice is 'Sharkeys by the pier' a really nice restaurant that strangely, has a pier next to it. You will find fishermen on it and we have seen Bonnet sharks and other fish landed. The Pier from Sharkeys Malibu or Daytona it is most certainly not, This is just a really relaxing, friendly, unspoilt, undeveloped area that is very easily accessible (25 yds from car to shore).. A visit to Venice Beach is a must do when ever we visit the Gulf Coast , we like to sit at the end of the pier and watch the fishermen catch mainly nothing . One year we spotted an eagle ray swimmin pass and another time a school of sting rays . Sharkeys is a great place to eat
