Travel insurance family or group?

Quick travel insurance question!
My kids are 19 ,16 and 7 .the family policies only allow two adults so do I purchase a group policy , or a family policy for us 4 and my eldest has his own individual policy?
The holiday flights and hotel have all been booked as a family !

Is your 19 year old at uni? if so she will still be covered if in full time education.
If not then i would get a family policy ( some let you upgrade to add another member) if not then I woud get the 19yr old to get a seperate policy

19 year old MAY be covered if they are a full time student but not all policies include this so you need to check it first.

My advice would be to buy a group policy and not a family one for the four of you and then a separate one for him. Consider the following scenario:

Your sister is taken ill and it is serious enough that you have to cancel the holiday. Most insurance policies would allow for cancellation if a sibling was taken ill but not for an auntie. The four of you would have your holiday covered through insurance but not your son because the relationship isn't considered close enough.

It's probably worth giving an insurance company a call and see what they say, and what the difference in cost would be. They would be able to advise you best to make sure that you are fully covered.

Our son is 21 and we have an aviva group policy. The annual policy was actually cheaper than the individual trip one. I really dont think its a good idea having a separate policy for your eldest. If you need to make a claim it could be very complicated. I always go through Quidco and ensure it has a minimum 4 star defaqto rating,
