its early for red tide bloom and a lot will depend on the rainfall over the next couple of weeks which can influence how much water needs to be released from Lake Okeechobee which last yeas was said to have increased the intensity of the bloom. as mentioned the red tide didn't really hi the Anna Maria island area until early august although it had been further down the coast much earlier. we were there in August last year and it varied in intensity from day to day. did not stop us having a good time but definitely made us change what we did. probably would not go back if it was present.

I’ve cancelled our villa - just gutted but can’t take the risk due to husband’s health. If it turns out the beaches are ok, we will book somewhere nearer the time for just a night. Not the same though!

This is just terrible it affected our holiday last year, we did go on the beach but only the ones that were safe and we still coughed. There were lots of dead fish but after a few days it got better, the Yacht club beach at Cape Coral was closed. I really want to go back but not if there’s red tide!

We are sticking with ours, it will be awful but really worrying for the locals who live and rely on Tourism too. Much worse to for the wildlife, many dolphins and manatees were killed last year.
Fingers crossed, it’s ok 🤞

We went for a day trip last year and it was awful. Caused us all to cough when near the beach and none of us suffer from Asthma. Plus when the beach is out of bounds there isn’t much else to do!

We went to naples last summer and only managed a few days on the beach - was gutted as planned on visiting a few places but there were too many dead fish. Looked at returning this year but didnt want to risk it so we are back to disney. I love the gulf coast - really hope the local businesses recover from last year
