Natwest Bank Travel Plans

Hi all.
I'm hoping someone can help me. We fly out to Orlando on Thursday, spending 2 days there before going on a 2 week cruise from Miami. After the cruise, we spend another 3 days in Orlando before flying home.

Our problem is, I have been trying to put dates onto our online account, with no success.

It seems the system will only allow us to put in 7 destinations. With the stops in Orlando twice, we will be visiting 10 destinations. Also, it won't let me put dates in for arriving on one day at a port and leaving the same day.

I have spoken with their call centre, who were absolutely no help. All the said was to update with the new destination every night while we are away. I explained that I would not have internet access, and was told that she could not offer any solution.

Has anyone had this problem, and how did you sort it out.

I am really getting stressed now, wondering if our Debit cards will get blocked.

Please help.

James

I bank with Natwest and they now say you do not need to tell them you are going away

We have never told our bank we are going away and never had any problems.

You don’t need to inform the bank. However if they believe there is suspicious activity on the account they can block it. Ie spending not normally associated with your account. I know as I had it happen to me. Not sure why you would ask you for every place you go.

I would condense your arrival date to the cruise as florida, when we did a road trip from keys to st petes beach I just put down florida for it all and had no problems, and even on the cruise most charges unless on a tour will probably be charged to an american company

Thanks for the quick replies. As I said, the lady I spoke to earlier said that the bank needed to know to prevent fraud.

I'm going into the bank again tomorrow to see if they can get it sorted. It just seems such a rubbish system, especially if you can't go to anymore than 7 places on holiday.

She actually told me to update our stops every night while we are away. I'm afraid I told her that I had better things to do with my holiday time than find Internet access every night just so that we can use our own money.

We are with Natwest and when we didn't inform them that we were going to Jamaica we had our transaction declined and when we rang the bank they said it was cause we hadn't informed them of us being away. I always make sure I let them know every trip now

My bank (Halifax) used to let you either ring or tell them the dates on line. This time I tried to tell them but they said not needed. My card was stopped for 3 days as they thought it was fraud even though I used it airside LHR T3 and in JFK when I arrived 8 hours later. The problem I had was the shop I used it in tried twice to bypass the pin number/swiped it etc so that was the fraud and not actually using it in Fl.

They claimed they phoned my mobile (No) and emailed me (No) to get in touch with me. I had to get a calling card and waste a morning ringing them to sort it out. All a bit frustrating.
