DIBB Villa Reviews: 1
We have Aviva group annual policy, paid around £150 for 3 adults and 1 teen and 2 of us with a few minor pre conditions. Went through Quidco and got £35 cash back off that too.
Never needed to make a claim so can’t comment on how good they are in a claim. I wouldn’t touch any insurance with less than £10m medical for US and would only buy a policy with a defaqto rating of 4 or above. The rating reflects the level of cover and customer service.
With insurance cheap really isn’t best. The money spent on that policy could prove to be the best money you have ever spent in your life.

I never knew this, thanks for posting, i am having a lot of trouble even getting quotes, as DD conditions look worse on paper, but actually stable at the moment. Does it matter if youve retired from the civil service? Who is the nhs one with please?

It is for retired civil service people- the name is CSPA - there are similar names who give you discount but this is the civil service insurance group. The nhs one is for 50-74 year olds and underwritten by Acasta European. It is NHSRF - it is cheaper at £315 per couple. We had to make a claim - nothing serious- with the CSPA and sorted very quickly no quibble. Good luck - we are 2 post cancers and heart attack with various other complaints and the very thought of sorting out travel insurance made me feel quite ill! Was always worried I had left some illness out when purchasing- but no worries with that with these policies.

Axa is who I used last time. They covered my pre-existing medical, which companies like Aviva and LV wouldn't, and at an extremely reasonable price. The great thing about their annual policy was, if another illness cropped up between buying the policy and going on holiday, it wasn't necessary to declare it; only needs to be declared at renewal.

Have you considered insurance through a bank account. I switched our joint account to Nationwide's flexplus account, £13pm and we get worldwide cover for all family inc cruise and winter sports. We have some minor pe conditions but no action in last 2 years means they don't add a premium for them.
We also get mobile phone insurance for all of us and breakdown cover included.
If you know someone who has an account they have a reccommend a friend offer, you get £100 and they get £100 when you switch. I called the insurance to check we would be covered for what we needed before signing up. The travel insurance is also 5 star defaqto rated.

i second the nationwide account option. They will cover you with conditions for an extra premium if you need it. For me when i looked at car recovery (uk & Eurpope) the cost worked out good value and it is rated high. Plud the account pays interest which can offset some of the cost.

We use just travel cover. Really good customer service I’ve found.

£118 for gold cover for two adults including asthma/hypermobility/depression/stress/hernias etc. All covered - only thing that it wouldn’t cover would be cancellation due to OHs stress, not a problem for us, the way he suffers he would still be able to go on holiday and fit to fly .

another plus for the nationwide cover, we have the Flexplus account and the packaged benefits included in it (just the mobile phone cover for the 2 of us justifies the account fee). As a Police officer I need some quite specific cover surrounding cancellations so use cover provided by the Police Federation but the Nationwide Policy covers very similar risks just not trip cancellation through being told to go back to work!

edit: what I meant to say was that it may be worth checking the policies on offer from any staff associations/unions at work, many are able to negotiate good discounts for their members
