Our 'one last time' trip- October 2018 - Day Two - Trattoria Al Forno, Shopping & Epcot

Today we had a slightly later start than yesterday, I woke up at 6 and did some trip notes and the girls woke up at about 6.25. With us all being in the same room it was impossible for Dan to get any sort of lay in! Our breakfast reservation had been at 9 but I had managed to change it yesterday to 7.50 (I’d actually somehow managed to end up booking a separate reservation so had ended up with both – but I’d spoken to reception the previous day and they had sorted it for me). Anyway, we still had a while before we needed to get moving so we laid in bed for a bit and the girls watched some Disney channel. We had a wake-up call from Pooh at 7! Last time it was Baymax every day – this year was Pooh! Ellie ate half her cupcake from the other night while we were getting ready (cake for a pre-breakfast snack is perfectly acceptable in Disney right!) We left the room at about 7.40 and took the short walk down to breakfast.

Oh, Boardwalk I love you!

We checked in for our reservation and were told to sit down in the seating area – the girls had a look at the toys that were for sale. Ellie wanted a Rapunzel doll, but we told her to wait and if she really wanted it, we would come back for it later. She agreed, and we were called not long after this. Our server came over and introduced herself, asked if we had eaten here before and explained the process to us. She also brought over our frying pan of pastries.

She said we could have an alcoholic drink on the dining plan, so I chose a Mimosa.

Dan had a cappuccino. I had planned a quieter day today and Dan wanted to go to JC Penny for some jeans, so he was driving this morning. The girls I would imagine would have had apple juice. For food, I had the King Tritan Shipwreck Alforno, Dan had the Royale Breakfast and the girls had Flounder’s flapjacks with sausage. For some reason I only have my food again

When our food came out the girls had bacon instead of sausage, Ellie said she was happy with bacon but Leah said she wanted the sausage. The server brought over more bacon and sausage to apologise. All the portions seemed huge, they were delicious but we left with very full bellies!

Flynn came out first he met a few families and then he introduced Rapunzel, they walked around the room together then carried on their meets separately. It was difficult to get pictures of them together as they were constantly moving which was a shame. We met Flynn first and he asked the girls if they liked land or sea adventures best! They both said land.

After Rapunzel came over, the girls were quite shy with her and she told them that Flynn keeps all his snacks in his rucksack!

Eric came out first again, and after a few minutes introduced Ariel. He came to our table first but wasn’t as chatty as Flynn. Ellie refused to have pictures with the princes as they are boys!

Finally, Ariel came over.

We were done by 8.40 – the service had been quick and we seemed to have quite a good table as I could get pictures without getting other people in the background! The total bill was $154.21 plus $26.06 tip. We used 4 TS credits and charged the tip to our room as I had forgotten to bring cash!

Originally, I had planned to head straight to Disney Springs but as I’d managed to change our reservation to an earlier time it wasn’t open yet. Dan was desperate to go to JC Penny so we thought we’d head there first. I double checked before we left and luckily I did because it didn’t open till 10 either. We decided to stop in Target on West Bronson Highway on the way.

I love target! I could spend hours up and down these aisles I don’t know why their supermarkets are so much better than ours. I grabbed some mint m&m’s and Dan got some Hershey Hugs & tried on some heads (much to the girl's amusement!)

Leah grabbed a Lego set and Ellie (as always) got a bit spend happy and got a Pocahontas doll, Disney doorable set and a blind bag hatchimal figure all for cheaper than the Rapunzel doll she had seen earlier. I also grabbed Leah some knickers because she hadn’t got enough clean pairs for me to pack before we came. I chose some Harry Potter ones for her. The total was $76. Luckily most of it was the kids spending money.

Next stop was J C Penny. Dan had been looking forward to getting himself some jeans for months, I had some outlet days planned later in the holiday but for some reason he was convinced that Levi’s would be cheaper in J C Penny (spoiler – they weren’t! I’m always right!) After what seemed like forever and trying on about one hundred pairs, he picked two for a total of $120.

When I’d finally dragged him out of there I wanted to quickly stop at Disney Springs and pick up our gift card and head back to the hotel. There seemed to be some roadworks going on around Disney Springs I knew I wanted the lime garage but from the direction we came we couldn’t turn left so I made Dan drive up and down until we found the entrance and got parked. But now we were perfectly placed for me to run in the Disney Store.

I left the others to have a look around and found the desk. There was no que and the CM issued the gift card quickly. Before long I was $200 up! It was hot by now and the kids had got fed up of shopping, so I wasn’t in the mood to look anywhere else.

Instead Dan & Leah got a pineapple & vanilla swirl each which were huge but so refreshing and Ellie got a Mickey Ice Cream which she dropped immediately! Luckily, we managed to scoop it up and ask for a bowl and a spoon so she could eat it that way. We used 3 snack credits for these.

We walked slowly back to the car after this and Ellie finished just before we got there thankfully!

We headed back to the Boardwalk so we could have a couple of hours in the pool before heading into Epcot this evening. The girls played some pool games with the team there. They were diving and getting things off the steps and floor, they loved this and was a great way for them to socialise with the other kids. We headed back about half 2 again so Ellie could have a little nap. It wasn’t long before she crashed so I got me and Leah changed and ready for the evening and sorted out Ellie’s clothes. I would imagine Dan was watching Vikings!

We left at 4 and walked to International Gateway again.

I had booked Dan a fast pass for Mission Space and he wanted to use one of his extra fastpasses on Test Track neither of the girls wanted to do this (and I can’t remember but they may not have been tall enough) so we split up at future world and I used one of our extra fastpasses on Character Spot.

We’ve never met the characters here before and I hadn’t told the girls who was going to be there so they were excited to see Mickey, Minnie & Goofy. The photographers in here just didn’t seem to care but we had a really good interaction with all the characters here! Mickey even pointed out my nails but the photographer literally only took two photos of us all together - none while they were signing, giving hugs etc. The Goofy photos were so dark I was really disappointed with these. The minnie ones weren't too bad - there were some okay ones but her timing seemed to be a bit off and missed the moments. It’s a shame the photos didn’t come out great, but this is a reflection of their attitude I think!

Photopass Photos:

I didn't take many (lesson learned - don't rely soley on photopass!) but I got a couple and thankfully we would meet all the characters again.

Ellie was getting a big grumpy after this and Dan still hadn’t text to say he was done so I asked what she wanted to do. She said Nemo, so I headed over to see what the standby que was. It was a walk on but the girls found the standby que much darker than the fast pass one for some reason.

When we came off we still hadn’t heard from Dan we went to Club Cool for some pineapple Fanta and a sugar hit when Ellie started complaining of earache! This happens sometimes when she spends a lot of time underwater so I gave her some Calpol and rung Dan so we could get her some food. He was just on his way back, so we met him and walked round to Mexico to go to La Cantina de San Angel.

The kids both ordered chicken tenders with pink lemonade, Dan had the trio of tacos with a fresh lime margarita on the rocks and I had Chicken tacos with a lime frozen margarita. The total should have been $65.98 but we used 4 QS credits.

When we came out I pointed out the Gran Fiesta Boat Tour and Leah really wanted to ride, Ellie was still a bit grumpy so she didn’t so I sat with her while Dan & Leah went on.

Leah came out and she loved it!

Next was time for pudding! I had done my research and I really wanted a Berry Cream Puff from Kringla Bakery, so we headed there. I got one, Leah got a trifle, Dan got a sweet white chocolate pretzel and Ellie got a fruit cup. Total should have been $20.73 but we used 4 snack credits.

They were all delicious and I would definitely go back again!

When we’d finished, we used the restrooms quickly and got in que for Anna and Elsa. It was posted as 25 minutes, but it was more like 15 and the que moved quickly. The girls had a good conversation with both Anna & Elsa, they asked them what their favourite sister game was and the girls was said hide and seek! Elsa then asked where their favourite place to hide was. (and we got some much better photopass pictures)

When we came out our Frozen Ever After FP had opened so we headed there. We got row 2 and me and Dan got wet while the kids stayed bone dry! Last time we did this Leah hated it, Marshmallow, the backwards part, the drop – today she knew it was coming and loved it! Typically the two adults in the front row blocked the kids in the ride photo which was a shame.

Ellie had started to feel a bit better now and we still had one extra fast pass to use and Dan was convinced we would all love soarin’ so we headed back round to future world. The que seemed to take a while even with FP but we got Concourse C row 3 so we had dangly feet and a crooked view. Leah asked if the Eiffel tower was the leaning tower of Pisa! But he was right we did all love it – Leah wanted to ride again straight after! Our final booked FP was nemo again – I’m sure it was much the same as the other times we rode it but Ellie loves it so who are we to argue.

We headed back to World Showcase, it was pretty busy by now and it seemed to take a while.

We hadn’t really planned where to watch illuminations from, I probably should of because I was getting grumpy having no input from Dan about where we should go. To be fair to him he is probably so used to being told what to do, where to go he was probably a bit perplexed when I said where do you want to watch the fireworks from? We ended up by England (of all the places) our view was slightly blocked by a couple of trees but it wasn’t the worst view.

We walked back to our room and we were back there by 9.30.

Today we managed 19,407 steps (14.45km), 9 characters and 5 rides.

I loved Trattoria al Forno on our last visit.

What a shame about the photos with Mickey and Goofy, the photographers are normally really good at capturing all the little moments.

We ate breakfast at Trattoria al Forno the day before you. I couldn’t eat half of my main course as I had filled up on pastries, loads of food there. We really enjoyed it.

We rode Soarin for the first time this holiday too,as it was closed for refurb on our first visit. I loved it, DD wasn’t as keen. Looks like you had another lovely day

I loved it too, would definitely eat there again.

They are, this was the only time I had a problem the whole trip which I suppose isn't bad going!

I was the same, maybe that's why I felt like my main was so big because of all the pastries - didn't even consider that

Ah was she not, I loved it too and thought the different smells were a nice touch!

Another lovely day. Poor Ellie and her ear, earache can be so painful can't it.

Those snacks from Kringla's look lovely.

I think you can pretty much get a decent of the fireworks from anywhere in Epcot (well around World Showcase) xx

It can, such a horrible pain to have luckily it didn't bother her too much for the rest of the holiday!

Oh really, that's always good to know. We'd never spent much time at Epcot before so it was all new to us! xx

I'm sad for you that the character spot photos aren't that great. It's lovely to meet Mickey, Minnie and Goofy in their traditional outfits so what a shame the photos were so poor.

The QS at Mexico is great, we loved those tacos and the margaritas were yummy.

I know it was such a shame, especially as Dan wasn't with us so is always nice for the kids to have pictures to show him!

It really is, we loved it! Have been dreaming of those margaritas since we've been back
