Working in Saudi Arabia

Does anyone or has anyone worked in Saudi Arabia? Been offered a job as a trainer in the Saudi aramco training centre but as a contractor rather than staff and would like a bit of a perspective on it all

Have to say I would rather work in the Ukraine! Sorry to put a damper on this but not exactly the cradle of democracy and supporter of Human Rights.
God help anyone if they put a foot wrong

Where I work was approached by their government to take on a large education- related project. Their ways of doing business and working are just sooooo different to ours and it was completely non-negotiable. Let's just say it hasn't happened!

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole with all the horrors going on in the Middle East at the mo.

With all the terrorist issues at the moment you could not pay me enough money to go there.

My uncle spent most of his adult life working in Saudi Arabia and Jordan. He was an engineer. Not sure what it is like now but back then the British and American contractors lived in a gated compound and the kids were bussed to an American school. He only came home after 9/11 as things became scary. Armed guards on the school bus etc.

My dad did this too but we stayed in the UK as my mum wouldn't go. He used to fly home every few months to see us :-(

Could not agree more. I have worked as a trainer in various countries, mainly South East Asia. I have delivered training in Saudi once but hated it, I certainly wouldn't want to do it just now or live there.
