Do you take a kettle with you on holiday?

I've been pondering this a while now, and a post on the Packing Cubes thread has prompted me to ask...

Do you pack a kettle?! I always pack tea and coffee, but we usually stay self catering so have always had a kettle in the villa/ apartment. Even the hotels we've stayed in have always had a kettle.

But. I've seen it mentioned a few times on here about taking one, or asking for one. Are they not standard in American hotel rooms? We've got 8 accommodations booked... varying from motel to villa to condo. Should I add kettle to my packing list?!

We always pop to Walmart the cheapest kettle is about $14. If you bring a uk one and use a travel adapter the voltage will never be right.

Not if staying in a villa but always take a travel kettle when staying in a hotel as they tend to have coffee maker and that doesn't boil the water, we only drink tea so the water has to be boiling.

We bought a cheap US kettle in Walmart a few years ago and it always comes with on US trips. Apart from DIBB villas, we find that hotels and cabins etc in the USA don’t have a kettle, just coffee pots.

The problem with a UK kettle, even the travel ones, is the voltage is not right and it takes about 20 mins for a small kettle to boil.

We have a dual voltage Von Haus one. Nothing special and got it from Amazon.

We use it in a Value resort for our first night before we move on to SSR so then pack it away.

However the room renovations at the Values means it's no longer needed.

My friends packed 2 travel kettles for our onsite OKW villa trip. Slowness wasn't a problem in the mornings as the kettles went on and friends either went back to bed or got ready for the day. They're big tea drinkers 🙂

My hotel has a very fancy coffee machine, but no kettle! I don't from coffee! So yes I have a trusty old travel kettle, does the job nicely!

One year when $ rate was good we brought one from supermarket full size, used it and then gave it to one of the maids!

This is us too (except ours was bought in Walgreens)
Bought ours and it comes back and forth with every trip. It’s served us about 7/8 times now. 😊

Well. Thank the Lord for The Dibb. Again! I hadn't even considered the dual voltage thing

I'm guessing this means I will need a travel hairdryer too

Just need to decide whether to add to my Amazon list, or my 'get from Wal-Mart' list now!

Thanks all
