A Dublin school has also just returned. They’ve just advised those with any immune deficiency to stay at home and are placing sanitisers around the school!

I suppose now anyone with even a cold is suspect!
It's moving on isn't it? Not sure when they declare a pandemic.

A local school to me has just returned from the same resort in Italy that's mentioned in the Sky News article.

I'd have to question how successful asking 11 - 16 year old's to self-quarantine for 14-days would be though. There would have to be an increased police presence in the local parks and shopping centres sending the kids home!

As far as I’m aware it’s just self isolation. Cransley is a private school and not a huge school at that. However pupils come from a wise area so not all local. But they have shut the whole school for the rest of the week after a ski trip to Italy and pupils having flu like symptoms.

Thanks, I hope no new cases emerge.

My son returned from a school skiing trip to Bormio, Italy on Saturday. He was tested today after we called 111 for advice. We spoke to his school and they aren't closing and said he should attend school tomorrow! Well that's not happening until we see his results.

How long do you have to wait for the results? I too would keep him off until you know for certain.

Thank you. We are keeping our rational heads on. If they haven't contacted him within 48 hours, he's clear.

Just to reiterate, they are doing this purely as a precaution. It does not mean that they have COVID-19.

As for being pandemic, it seems WHO is trying to move away from the term. One could argue COVID-19 is already pandemic, but it's a bit of a meaningless term to the public. Seasonal flu has infected far, far more people than COVID-19 and killed many, many more than COVID-19 has, and yet it isn't considered a pandemic.
