Villa in October - Pool Heating required?
We are trying to see if a trip in October this year is doable... have only been in June / July previously and never needed pool heating
Would this be required in October please?, and if so, are there approx costs for a 3 week stay for this? Thanks |

We don’t normally have the heat on but if the agdks are with us yes it’s a must
We charge £15 a day some owners may be less some more depends on pool size / in ground spa etc Tour operators charge a obscene amount latest one I’ve heard was $42 A day you bet the owners sees less than half of that believe me |

For three weeks, if you were going end of Sept into October, you might get away with no pool heating if your kids wouldn't mind quite cold water temperatures for swimming/playing around. But given their ages, I'm assuming your three weeks incorporate half term at the end of October, maybe into November, so if you want use of the pool, heating will be a necessity.
Helen (Gryff) has already given you a good indication of cost and I agree that the difference between cost charged by an owner direct versus a tour operator/agent will be huge. See HERE for a recent thread on the subject posted by a non-villa owner. Debra

Our grand kids are 14 8 4 and 2 and grandma will swim in a cool pool if no splashing but time with them in a warm pool worth every penny especially when to be honest even the 14 year old say what rides set we doing and has patience for the younger ones to do their rides then it’s no can you not just make dinner at home so we can get in the pool
Eating out is akin to torture for them when we are at the villa |

September is fine without pool heat , but October , although still warm day time temperatures, the sun is not strong enough to heat the depth of water in the pool, so would always recommend for October
I charge £100 per week for pool heat similar to most owners..can depend on size of pool travel companies charge a lot more, sometimes astronomic... Much of which goes to the middle men if you are challenged with this see if you can go through the owner/management co

We went middle of October for 2 weeks and didn't pay for pool heating as the charge was obscene with virgin, IIRC it was around £300. The pool got very cold at the back end of the holiday even though the temperatures were in the low 30's each day. The sun just wasn;t on the pool enough by the end of it. We managed ok and we had a 7 year old with us but it was bordering on being too cold.

When we went in second half of Oct several years ago we paid for pool heating but it was never switched on (we got our money back). For me it was too cold and I would definitely get pool heating if going at that time of year again. My dad and hubby still used it but for the rest of us it wasn't warm enough.
We did complain about it being too cold whilst we were there but it never got sorted hence why we were refunded. |
