We were looking at villas on the coast for New year and a few owners were asking for full payment at time of booking (they were all US based) - we ended up booking a villa that took a deposit but only because it was our favorite.
Maybe just drop the owner an email to ask if you could place a deposit now to secure the booking and make full payment nearer the date. |

Its the payment system on Home-away its not very good or simple to use the owner can though ask for a two part payment deposit then the balance. It quoted a guest for our home £80 for pool heat for a 10 week stay which was know were near correct got lots of little blips with it and the company aint really interested in putting it right.

I advertise on Homeaway and you set the payments up for when you require them. Mine is 20% dep bal 10 weeks prior just like any holiday company. However when you set the payment schedule you can amend this. So Id email the owner. Tell them
Your interested. But ask them to ammend the balance to 10 weeks prior. I would for sure!

Thanks all for the advice. Wanted to give an update. Got back to the owner and have now agreed a deposit of 20% and the balance 10 weeks before arrival. Feeling a lot better about it now.
The DIBB really is a great community for advice

We take a deposit and the balance is due 10 weeks before arrival, obviously if a last minute booking payment would be due up front.
