Usually go for opening and spend 3-4hrs there or go once the afternoon rain has cleared it out and stay until closing.

3 - 4 hrs is our norm. Consider if planning afternoon you may get impacted by storms, but once they move on the later afternoon / evening can be a great time to be in the park.

As others have said maybe four hours or so but would recommend going to the park first thing as we found it easier to get on the rides earlier than later.

Another vote for early arrival and then fairly early departure. We have also been a couple of times on our last morning - cases dropped off at disney springs, few hours at volcano bay, ice cream at cold stone creamery on city walk and then off to the airport. Has worked well for us!

Due to the nature of the park, and it's virtual queues, if you arrive mid afternoon, you're basically doing it the worst way possible

virtual queues will be mostly full, meaning that you can probably only hope to do 1 ride, maybe two, and that's it (apart from lazy river and wave pool)

arriving early is the only way if you want to enjoy the rides

better do VB in the morning (arriving early you'll have done most of the park by noon/1pm) and then go to the outlets.

I would go in the morning when it's quiet you can get a lot more slides done. Both times we have been to Volcano Bay we have stayed for around 7 hours.

I would suggest going to Volcano Bay as earlier in the day as you can in case there’s a storm in the afternoon.
