Excited as if going on vacation (nearly).. or how to blow your aborted vacation budget.
Well, the 2020 California vacation was cancelled in both March and August. There is no time to mope and life goes on. I might as well spend the money wisely and have had plans for a dining room drawn up a while back. (Building regs only and no planning permission reqd). Tomorrow is the big day and the builders will be here at 0830... ish. At the end of the day it is West Cornwall and the locals do all things ‘dreckly’. I am almost as excited as on the day before we leave for vacation (but not quite).
Day -1 A double garage, one half of which will soon be a dining room. I give you... the dining room! A kitchen diner with a dust proof frame assembled in preparation for the dust storm that will occur when the wall to the right is smashed through into the garage, forming a glazed pair of doors. A cunning and devious plan.

It is my intention to keep the thread running. The builder predicts 3 weeks!

Looks good. My cancelled holiday is being spent on a new bathroom, ensuite and decking for the back garden.

Ooh. Interesting solution. To the need more space in house yet need to keep the garage option. Will be interesting to see the progress and outcome.
Haven't heard Dreckly for a while. What's your guess 9:15 for takeoff ? |

Looks great, looking forward to seeing the finished product. Our holiday fund is currently been pumped into landscaping the back garden. Should be finished by Wednesday. Would swap it for my holiday in a heartbeat though!

Can't wait to see the progress...
My cancelled holiday money has been spent on s new boiler and we're just fitting s downstairs cloakroom, plumber doing first fix at 9.30am. Then (with extra savings) we're getting glass and oak balustrades on the stairs and the hallway decorated. I'm very excited by our home improvement plans! |
