Dominican Republic or Mexico
We are planning a family holiday next July and have whittled our options down to these two areas. We would like a nice all inclusive hotel, we are a very large party so want a big hotel with more than one pool and on the beach with water sports. We will have a wide age range, youngest will be six but she's already a swimmer.
Any suggestions please lovely people. PS I'd quite like a spa. Edited at 11:47 AM. |

I've been to both on AI holidays.
Personally I prefer Mexico over DR. Generally Mexico AI hotels are prepped for the Americans, so you will get better quality restaurants and WiFi etc (the Americans won't accept any less). I also loved going to the Mexican ruins and using the local mini buses.

My daughter really wants to go to Punta Cana not sure I spelt it right apperently it’s in the Dominican Republic. I only went to Haiti as a kid which is the Voodoo island apparently! I would be happy to go to either so good luck choosing, I always wanted to go back to Barbados so maybe one day x

I’ve never been to the Dominican Republic but I’ve been to Mexico. They have lovely big hotels with lots of restaurant options and great shopping which is quite Americanised with places like bath and body works. You can also visit places like Chichen Itza or Coba to visit the maya ruins which is fab.
Cancun is awesome but a lot of hotels can be quite partyish so make sure you pick a family orientated one. I visited Playa del Carmen for a day which looked lovely too. Loads of nice shops and restaurants and a beautiful beach and less catered to clubbing than downtown Cancun. |

I have been to both, definitely Mexico although my husband would say DR. Mich more to do in Mexico. Although the beaches were full of seaweed, DR beaches are beautiful
