Still nothing closer than 30 miles away so they went to a local drive in one this morning, on the off chance they wouldnít turn away. Low and behold plenty of staff there but no cars waiting 🤬🤬
Test done , 36 hrs for results they say. How maddening is that, that site empty, surely something wrong somewhere. This is an area under special watch by public health.
School says even if negative , not allowed to return for a further 10 days , or longer if cough still there

The principle reason is that the system is snowed with people requesting tests when they are asymptomatic and or otherwise ineligible. Or as noted above when a whole year group is incorrectly told to go and get a test.

It's ridiculous. People who are then eligible, or who are symptomatic are then not able to get one.

So even if kids get a negative result they still cant return to school ?

No point to having a test then.

The world really has gone mad.

I think youíre only supposed to be tested if you develop symptoms.

I agree with you about the madness!

This is my point exactly. My grandson has a cough and cold, school send home insisting on Covid test. Stressful 2 days trying to find a slot within 20-30 miles distance.
Now the wait for result but school emails to say he still cannot return for 10 days if results negative, more if positive
Why if negative, this is going to impact the whole winter term.
We are certain his cough is due to the fact he still suffers from croup occasionally in winter months. He might as well not endured the painful nose swab, just stayed home

How utterly frustrating and ludicrous for you all. I fail to see the point in taking the test if he canít even return if itís negative.

Itís a nightmare. We have teachers off as they have a household member with a high temp and canít get a test for them anywhere. So now we have to employ a supply teacher to cover!

Was told by 119 to go on to book a test for my son as 8pm, went on site wouldnít load, then was offered a test in Norwich which is 50 miles away, before I had chance to click it then come up as no tests available. So still canít get him a test!

They will have to relax some of these rules because otherwise the school system will just grind to a complete halt in a few weeks.

Pupils and teachers will just end up spending all the time in multiple isolations.
