Cats and plug in freshners

Just a question about Yankee candle plug ins
Before I had my cats I used to use them all the time
Since I got the cats I’ve never used them, always a little worried about the cats and their breathing with the synthetic smell
Do you use them ok, or stear clear with animals?

How is that any different than using actual Yankee candles? I use them and it doesn’t appear to affect my cat at all 😊.

Our two don’t give them a second look once they notice them it’s a case of “ok the humans put that on again” and off they go and ignore them. Just keep them out of reach and they will be fine.

I don’t use candles, or really spray much into the rooms where they are so was just unsure

Suggest you check with your vet as I am under the impression certain ones can be toxic and cause breathing issues in some cats, though cannot remember which ones..

would it not say that on the packaging if the contents were toxic to pets?

They don’t always warn consumers. We only use the lavender one it helps calm them down. The cats don’t kick them and generally just chill out when the room scents or candles are on. If in doubt ring your vets and ask them.. there are some pretty comprehensive toxic plant lists online these days.. avoid them and avoid trouble.

They affect me quite badly so I think they can't be very good for cats either. Candles are even worse than the plug in air fresheners. Maybe cats are like humans some will be affected by them others will be fine.
