Anyone with a NatWest bank account?
Yesterday I put some money on our Fairfx card and promptly paid our DVC Annual Dues. All very good. However, my account is still showing that amount as “pending”, together with a small amount I paid today for something from Debenhams. I have read the information on pending amounts. I was wondering how long this will take to sort itself out. Has anyone had any experience of these sort of transactions please?

We are with NatWest and I am really finding that they are very behind the times in this modern world. My friend works for Lloyds bank and they seem to have much more modern systems.

It might be the kind of transaction that the payee bank claims through the payments system rather than is paid.

If you do a transfer from your account to another account (I have a son at Uni so do this a lot!) I find that is instant. Payments to shops and online purchases tend to take 24 hours or 48 over a weekend or BH. Cash withdrawals show immediately as taken out.

This happened to me last week.I do a couple of the same transactions each month but as you say this month i had the "pending" thing.
This has never happened before but it sorted itself out overnight. I think it has New Year blues! I am sure it will be fine but I cannot explain it.

I find the pending transactions take different time to clear depending on how you paid
With card payments for things like shopping it usually clears in 1/2 days payments done via paypal or similar usually take 3-5 days. I do think it better than the old system they had as a least this way you can see all the individual payments you have pending rather then just having the total figures for balance and available balance and trying to remember what you spent. |

Was it a card payment or bank transfer? Card payments don't come off instantly because the retailer has to claim the funds from the bank. This normally takes a couple of working days. Bank transfer is probably BACS because it's far cheaper to process. The lead for BACS is 3 working days.
I wouldn't worry about it as your available balance will be correct, the payment just hasn't cleared yet. |

Usually the balance you see is the balance with the pending transactions already removed .
NatWest have the pending transactions with a yellow line on the left side if you do online/ phone app banking, I use my card for everything and always have a couple of pending as said they should be clear by Monday If I pay using phone wave it goes off straightaway |

It should take a couple of working days. Normally all transactions are pending if made over the weekend
