If you are renting a villa the villa owner usually sends you driving directions from your previous location (airport, last resort, etc) I know that's what I do.
Without knowing your Cape Coral address, from Orlando we would take the 1-4 then 1-75 then one of the exits into North / South Cape Coral. |

If you wanted to take the scenic route, take US17 from I4 into Punta Gorda and then pick up US 41 to Cape Coral.
It will take a bit longer but more interesting than I4 & I75 in my humble opinion. You could also stop for a bite to eat and stretch the legs in Punta Gorda, a quaint little town with a good mix of restaurants and also Fisherman's Village. Rotonda Girl |

Oh the 'discussions' I have had with hubby over the years on that one! We have done both routes (many times) and whilst the US17 is more scenic and is shorter by 50 miles, it (generally) is no quicker than travelling on the 1-4, 1-75 (especially if it is pitch dark, raining or there is a traffic holdup)
Both are routes for consideration, depending upon OP's circumstances and preferences. Have a great time! |

True. . We've done the same thing a 100 times. We live in Lake Mary, ILs on Sanibel, but we always seem to time our trips for rush hour in Tampa so other half insists on using 17. We usually have the dogs onboard too so it's easier to use 17 for potty breaks, but that's inconsequential for everyone on here
